AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team knocked off conference-leading and eighth-ranked Texas Lutheran, 7-2. The Tornados used timely hitting and a complete-game effort from freshman
Mia Post in the circle at Roberts Family Field on Friday. The win for the Tornados marked their first win over a ranked team since
March 12, 2024 against TLU.
The Tornados jumped on the Bulldogs early, scoring twice in the first inning. Lilly Longoria drove in the first run with an RBI single, and Molly Olivarez followed with another RBI knock to make it 2-0.
After Texas Lutheran answered with a run in the second, Concordia created separation in the middle innings. The Tornados plated two runs in the fourth, highlighted by an RBI hit-by-pitch from Isabella Vidal and a sacrifice fly from Malarie Mican.
In the fifth, Kylie Kirk sparked the offense with a triple, while Kamryn Kothman and Emily Rivera each delivered RBI hits to extend the lead to 6-1. Kirk would then add another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cap the scoring.
In the circle, Post was steady from start to finish, tossing a complete game while allowing just two runs on nine hits and five walks, improving to 7-1 on the year.
Offensively, Concordia also totaled nine hits, with Kothman (2 RBI), Rivera (2 hits, RBI), and Mican (2 runs scored, RBI) leading a balanced attack.
Concordia Texas and Texas Lutheran will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for noon with the Senior Day ceremony scheduled for immediately after the final game.
