SUWANEE, Ga. -- The Concordia Texas men's golf team has earned the SCAC's 2026 Team Sportmanship Award, the league's office announced on Wednesday. Nine Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference programs were recognized by the league as Spring 2026 Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports, with Concordia's men's golf team receiving the most votes.
The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year in an effort to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The spring awards are presented in baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
Colorado College, Concordia University (Tex.) and Texas Lutheran University paced the league with two spring programs earning accolades, while Austin College, Hendrix College and McMurry University all collected one honor each.
In golf, Concordia captured the team sportsmanship honor for the first time in program history on the men's side. The Tornados are just the fifth program in league history to win the honor and third program since 2020. Concordia was the top choice with Texas Lutheran finishing second and Austin College earning third.
The awards were voted on by each member institution's SAAC, with each individual group ranking the top three teams in each sport. The first place selections were awarded five points, second place earned three points and third place earned one point. Points were then totaled to select the conference's overall winner.
