• four-year letter winner as an outfielder, first baseman and catcher at Champion High School in Boerne
• team captain who batted .351 with 23 RBIs as a senior
• two-time all-district selection and an all-state pick as a senior
• made the academic all-district team
• led team to a 31-10 record in 2011 and a 27-13 ledger in 2012 as well as the district crown each year
• program also advanced to the regional finals in 2012
