Concordia Blew Past Sul Ross State

Alpine, TX- Concordia University Texas women's basketball program blew past Sul Ross State, in a 73-53 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Gallego Center in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action. The win improves Concordia to 5-7 overall and 5-5 in ASC play while, Sul Ross State drops to 0-14 and 0-11. 

In the first half Concordia was paced by an 11-0 run to give them the 22-9 lead, along with the momentum with seven minutes remaining. The Tornados went into half-time with a 32-20 lead. 

Concordia broke out to a pair of 24-point leads in the second half securing the 73-53 final victory.

The Tornados finished with three players posting double digit numbers led by senior Kassandra Bills with 16 points. Whitney Clancy added 12 points while Jennifer Herman finished with 11 points in the victory. Tiffany Turner picked up 6 rebounds for the Tornados. 

Sul Ross State was led by Angelique Benton with 24 points. 

Concordia finished play shooting 41 percent from the field against the Lobos . The Tornados were 8 and 24 from beyond the arc and 15 of 25 foul shots to finish at 60 percent from the line. Sul Ross State finished shooting 37 percent from the field and knocking down 11 of 24 foul shots. The Tornados forced 19 Lobo turnovers.

Concordia will be back at the Concordia Field House on Thursday, at 5:30 pm to take on Schreiner University.
