Tornados on Fire Beyond the Arc

Austin, TX- The Concordia University Texas Tornados picked up an American Southwest Conference (ASC) win over rival Mary Hardin Baylor on Monday night at the Concordia Field House. After a very close and competitive game the Tornados proved to be too much for the Cru picking up the 70-66 victory. Concordia improves to 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the ASC while, UMHB falls to 5-5 overall and 4-2. 

The game was tied at 37 all going into the half although, Concordia came out strong going on a 6-0 run to start the second half. The match up came all the way to the end as Kassandra Bills hit a three with 45 seconds left giving CTX the 68-63 lead. The Cru refused to quit battling back with a quick three pointer that put them within two of the lead. Although with time running out UMHB had to foul Lori Lee Beck sending her to the line for the final two free throws of the match up, to give the Tornados the 77-66 victory. 

Concordia finished with three players in double digits led by senior guards Kassandra Bills and Lori Lee Beck who each finished with 17 points. Sophomore Jennifer Herman chipped in with 10 points. 

Mary Hardin Baylor was led by sophomore Landie Thompson who finished with 16 points. 

As a team the Tornados were 10-18 from beyond the arc while shooting 55% as compared to the Cru's 23%. 

Concordia will be on the road next as they travel to Clinton, MS to take on Mississippi College Thursday night. Opening tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
