RICHARDSON, Texas -- Three second half goals by the University of Texas-Dallas propelled the Comets (9-6-3, 6-5-1 ASC) past the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team Saturday afternoon.
CTX (3-12-2, 1-10-2 ASC) ended its 2009 campaign with the loss. It was the 11th consecutive defeat for the Tornados this season.
UTD struck early in the second half as Patrick Hing found Cory Roth on a breakaway to the goal in the 48th minute, which proved to be the game-winning score.
The Comets doubled their lead in the 54th minute as Stephen Ambrose scored from 40 yards out. UTD picked up their final score of the contest as Roth earned his second goal of the match in the 67th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper #Ubaldo Vazquez# recorded six saves in a losing effort for the Tornados.
UTD outshot CTX 21-11 overall, including a 9-3 advantage in shots on target.
In 2009, the Tornados were led by senior forward #Armando Dimeo#, who scored five goals and added two assists for a team-best 12 points. Dimeo finished his career as the second all-time leading scorer in CTX history.
