AUSTIN, Texas --
The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team was unable to pull off another dramatic comeback as the Tornados (3-3, 3-2 ASC) came up short against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 66-63, Thursday evening at Concordia Fieldhouse.

Senior forward #Kerrie Carter# posted her second double-double of the season by scoring 12 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.  Freshman guard #Brianna Smith# led the Tornados in scoring by netting 13.  Freshman guard #Margaret Milling# chipped in 10 points and four steals off of the bench.

CTX trailed UMHB (4-3, 3-2 ASC) by four points at halftime.  The Lady Cru shot 51.9% (14-of-27) from the floor in the first half.

In the second half, the Tornados trailed by 11 points (55-44) with 10:40 remaining.  Over the next eight minutes, CTX would cut the Lady Cru lead to six points (57-63) as Smith buried a jumper in the paint.  Junior forward #Jackie Eddins# brought the game within four points (59-63) after putting back a missed three-point attempt from freshman guard #Julia Bellquist# with 1:14 left.

The Tornados would get as close as two points (61-63) as Milling knocked down a pair of free throws with 37 seconds remaining in the contest.  However, the Lady Cru would receive one of two free throws from Jessica Kelly to lead by three (61-64) with 29 ticks left.  Nine seconds later, Kelly would steal the ball and then call a timeout.  Following the timeout, the Tornados fouled UMHB and sent Caitlin Barganier to the line, who hit both free throws (61-66).

CTX would pick up two final points as Eddins hit a jumper from the baseline with one second on the clock.  Following a Tornado timeout, UMHB inbounded the ball and time quickly ran out.

Concordia will hit the road on Sunday, Dec. 13 for a non-conference contest at Texas A&M University-International in Laredo.  Tip time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
