Abilene, TX- Concordia University Texas women's basketball team fell to the Hardin Simmons Cowgirls, 89-70 Thursday night, in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action at the Mabee Complex. Concordia falls to 8-9 overall and 8-7 in ASC action while, Hardin-Simmons University improves to 16-4 overall and 13-4 in ASC.
Hardin-Simmons jumped out to an early 27-13 lead, six minutes into the match up. Concordia did fight back to come within ten points of the Cowgirls going into half time trailing 43-31.
The Cowgirls again started out strong resulting in a 21-6 run to start the second half of play. The early Cowgirl run was too much for the Tornados.
Concordia finished with three players in double-digit scoring led by senior
Kassandra Bills with 29 points and 6 steals.
Jennifer Herman and
Jackie Eddins each finished with 11 points.
Hardin-Simmons was led by Lindsey Newcombe with 33 points and 15 rebounds.
As a team, Concordia was out shot 36 percent to the Cowgirls 53 percent.
Concordia will be back in action again on their Abilene road series against McMurry University on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1:00pm. Last time that the two teams matched up Concordia picked up the 73-70 victory.
