Austin, TX- After another rainy week in Austin, the Concordia University Texas baseball team finally hit the field against Hardin-Simmons University Saturday night at Nelson Field taking the 5-2 American Southwest Conference loss. The series was pushed back a day after heavy rains hit Austin during the middle of the week.
Concordia falls to 14-14 overall and 4-6 in American Southwest Conference action while Hardin-Simmons improves to 15-11 and 6-4 in the ASC.
Hardin-Simmons started off with a quick one run lead after a triple scored the leadoff hitter.
With the Tornados trailing 4-0, senior
Chad Thielepape hit his third home run of the season, bringing the Tornados within three of the Cowboys.
Bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, senior
Nick Cmerek hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Killian Kinart to bring the Tornados back with in three, 5-2. Although the Cowboys closed out the 5-2 victory.

Matt Coburn had a season high 14 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched. Junior
Jason Rangel pitched two innings striking out three.
The next action will be a doubleheader starting at noon tomorrow to complete the three game American Southwest Conference series.
