BOX SCORE

AUSTIN, Texas -- A last minute penalty kick goal handed the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team a 1-0 win over visiting Louisiana College Thursday afternoon at Town & Country Optimist Soccer Fields.

With just over a minute remaining in the contest, Louisiana College (0-7-0, 0-1-0 ASC) committed a foul in the box as Concordia Texas (2-0-2, 1-0-0 ASC) sophomore #Victoria Williams# was shoved to the ground while trying to take a shot.  Sophomore midfielder #Kiera Ruck# stepped up and knocked home the penalty kick, which gave the Tornados the 1-0 win in the conference opener.

"Kiera was composed and had a great shot to lock up the win for us," said CTX head coach Corey Holton.  "Victoria made a nice move and drew the foul to give us a chance to win the game."

Despite the 1-0 score, the Tornados dominated most of the contest by owning the majority of the possession.  CTX also made its mark in the shot column, as the Tornados outshot the Lady Wildcats, 15-3.  Ruck led all players with six attempted shots, including the final shot of the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper #Teysha Sivage# recorded the second clean sheet of her career after not having to make a save in the contest.

With the win, the Tornados increase their unbeaten streak to a school record four matches.

"It's a nice accomplishment for this team to go the first four games and still be unbeaten," Holton said.  "We hope this can really help the program and turn things around for us in the future."

The Tornados will return to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 19 in an ASC tilt with visiting Mississippi College.  Game time is schedule for 2 p.m. at Town & Country Optimist Soccer Fields.
