ABILENE, Texas -- A goal in the 72nd minute helped Hardin-Simmons University edge the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team Saturday afternoon. The Tornados (3-2-2, 1-1-2 ASC) ended a two-game road trip to Abilene with a tie and a loss.
Freshman forward #Taylor Granato# netted the first goal of his career off an assist from CTX points leader #Armando Dimeo# in the 12th minute, giving the Tornados a 1-0 advantage.
Hardin-Simmons (4-1-1, 3-0-0 ASC) scored the equalizing goal in the 38th minute as Rees Crosby found the back of the net on an assist from Eloy Salgado.
The Cowboys would net the game winner in the 72nd minute off a set piece as Chris O'Brien headed home the corner kick off the foot of Brennan Goodman.
CTX attempted only six shots in the contest and the only shot on goal came during Granato's goal. HSU launched 20 shots in the game, including 13 in the first half.
Tornados junior goalkeeper #Eric Davis# made five saves in the match.
Concordia Texas will return home to host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, Oct. 1 in a 3 p.m. tilt at Town & Country Optimist Soccer Fields.
