AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team lost its third straight contest after No. 22 Louisiana College handed the Tornados (5-7, 4-6 American Southwest Conference) a 78-58 loss Saturday afternoon at Concordia Fieldhouse.
#Brianna Smith# paced the Tornados with 10 points. #Jackie Eddins# and #Courtney Moore# each chipped in with nine. Eddins added four steals.
CTX jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first eight minutes of the contest. However, Louisiana College (9-2, 6-2 ASC) used the strength of two separate 10-0 runs to close out the half on a 29-9 run. The Lady Wildcats held a 38-27 lead at halftime. During the Lady Wildcats' run to close out the first half, Concordia was limited to only four baskets, all of which came on fast breaks or shots in the paint.
The second half saw the Tornados fall behind by as much as 27. CTX shot just 33.3% (12-of-36) from the floor in the second half.
Louisiana College was led by Christy Pantallion, who scored a game-high 20 points. The Lady Wildcats were 28-of-30 (93.3%) from the free throw line in the contest, including a perfect 13-of-13 during the second half.
Concordia shot 35.4-percent (23-of-65) from the field overall and were 4-of-20 (20%) from beyond the arc.
The Tornados will return to ASC West action on Monday, Jan. 11 as they travel to Belton to take on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 5:30 p.m.
