LONGVIEW, Texas
--- The Concordia Texas women's soccer team pushed its season win total to seven as the Tornados pushed past LeTourenau University 5-0 Saturday night. This came after dropping a 0-2 decision to East Texas Baptist on Friday. CTX now stands at (7-4-1, 5-2-1 ASC) on the year.

On Friday Concordia faced a tough ETBU team (4-4-1, 4-1-1 ASC) that set the tempo early scoring in the sixth minute on an Ashley Hamer goal. The Tigers struck again just twenty minutes later as Danica Saxon found the back of the net off an assist from Kelsey Biscoe. The Tornados were unable to answer back as an offense that had scored six goals in its last three contests, was unable to record a shot in the first period.

The CTX defense regained control for most of the second period allowing no shots on goal, but the high-powered Tornado offense could not come up with any scoring opportunities. The match finished with a 2-0 ETBU victory.

It was the first time since Concordia took a 0-4 defeat from # 3 ranked Hardin-Simmons on October 16th, that the Tornados have allowed more than one goal in a match. ETBU collected 10 shots in the contest with three being shot on goal. CTX goalkeeper Tyler Steinbach recorded one save.

Dalaine Whitlock and Axita Patel collected the Tornados only two shots on goal in the contest. ETBU goalkeeper Cristine Aquino had both saves in the shutout victory.

In the weekend finale on Saturday, Concordia was back to its old ways collecting a 5-0 victory over a dismal LeTourneau team (0-12, 0-7 ASC). Striking first for CTX was Chastity Carrillo, the freshman netted her seventh goal of the year off a penalty kick, giving the Tornados an early 1-0 advantage.

Amanda Tarpley then collected the first of two goals off an Axita Patel assist in the 38th minute. From there it was Kiera Ruck dialing up a goal just before halftime, making the score 3-0 CTX.

In the second period it was more dominating play from Concordia as Axita Patel struck a Kiera Ruck pass past the LETU goalkeeper in the 52nd minute. Just two minutes later Amanda Tarpley collected her third goal of the year, giving the Tornados the 5-0 win.

Before the weekend, Concordia was in second position overall in the American Southwest Conference in overall points with its 4-1-1 conference record. The Tornados face the University of Dallas in non-conference action on Tuesday, before heading to the University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday. UTT is currently (9-3,7-1 ASC) and the game could be a future match-up in the ASC conference tournament.
