AUSTIN, Texas --- The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team continued its magical run through the 2010 season as the Tornados collected a goal from Rose Cutrer in the 54th minute to defeat Schreiner University 1-0 Saturday at St. Stephen's Field. CTX is now 6-3-1, 4-1-1 ASC on the year and has already set school records for season (6) and conference wins (4).

St. Stephen's Field is proving to be a very friendly confine for CTX this season as Corey Holton's squad improved its home record to 5-1-0 Saturday. Over 200 fans were on hand to see Concordia dominate a match that was not nearly as close as the final score indicated. The Tornados attempted 29 shots on the day (13 on goal) while Schreiner was only able to collect four shots (one on goal).

In the 15th minute Concordia was on the attack as Chastity Carrillo was able to gain a one on one opportunity with the SU goalkeeper, but her shot missed just wide right of the net in CTX's best scoring opportunity of the period.

Versatility on the offensive end have made the Tornados very dangerous this season and that statement became even more apparent in the 54th minute, when a corner kick from Hilary Wagner was deflected to Rose Cutrer, where the junior lobbed it up and over the Schreiner goalkeeper to collect her second career goal.

Holding a 1-0 advantage did not keep the Tornados off the offensive in the last 20 minutes as Concordia ripped shot after shot towards SU goalkeeper Genevieve Monroe. The Mountaineer keeper would turn away 12 shots on the day however, including multiple strikes from Axita Patel, Briana Alston & Taylor Franklin.

The contest would end with a 1-0 Concordia victory as Concordia would win its third straight match.

Tyler Steinbach and the back-line of CTX collected its fifth shutout of the season and have only given up 10 goals on the year (1.08 scoring average).

The Tornados will be on the road in the upcoming week as the team faces East Texas Baptist on the 8th at 2:00 p.m. and LeTourneau on the 9th in a match starting at 4:00 p.m.
