AUSTIN, Texas --- # 3 ranked Hardin-Simmons University used a hat trick from Amy Kuykendall to power past the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team by a score of 4-0 in ASC conference opening action Thursday afternoon.
The loss brings the Tornado's record to (1-3-0, 0-1-0) ASC while Hardin-Simmons improves to (3-0-0, 1-0-0) ASC.
Hardin-Simmons, winners of the previous seven American Southwest Conference Championships, looked to be even better than advertised as the Cowgirls dominated all aspects of the match. The Cowgirls attempted 21 shots in the contest and limited the Tornados to just one shot on goal.
Amy Kuykendall recorded her second hat trick of the season just 30 minutes into the period and HSU added a goal in the 71st minute to record the 4-0 win. Concordia's
Chastity Carrillo, fresh off a two goal game, collected two shots in the match while fellow mid-fielders
Dalaine Whitlock and
Axita Patel also played well helping limit Hardin-Simmons to six shots on goal in the second period.
The Tornados will look to bounce back from Thursday's loss by returning home to host McMurry University this Saturday. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
