BELTON, Texas --- The Concordia University women's soccer team is already one win away from last season's total as the Tornados rolled over conference rival Mary Hardin-Baylor by the score of 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Belton.

The CTX victory brings their record to 4-3-1, 2-1-1 ASC while UMHB falls to 2-3-1, 1-1-1 ASC.

The two hour weather delay to start the game could have been a sign from above, or perhaps it was just more confident play from a talented group of young ladies as the Tornados scored their 19th, 20th, and 21st goals of the season to collect their second ASC conference victory.

CTX wasted no time in getting on the board as Briana Alston drew a foul in the box that led to a Amanda Tarpley penalty kick, which gave Concordia a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game. Taylor Franklin, made it a 2-0 advantage when she took a corner kick from Kiera Ruck and booted it off the top post and in during the 36th minute.

Axita Patel then collected her third goal of the season in the second period to give CTX a 3-0 lead. Mary Hardin-Baylor would answer back just 30 seconds later with a goal from Erin Salyer and the game would end by a final of 3-1.

CTX goalkeeper Tyler Steinbach made four saves in the match. The Tornados attempted 12 shots on the day while the back-line of Hilary Wagner, Lauren Browning, Rose Cutrer, & Dalaine Whitlock helped limit UMHB to five shots on goal.

Concordia went 2-1-1 on the week and is now only one of three teams in the ASC West Divison to have a winning record in conference play. For the year CTX has outscored oppoents by a 21 to 11 margin and was second in the entire conference in shots per game (18.2) as of September 22nd.

The Tornados will come back home to host Texas Lutheran on September 30th at 1:00 p.m. They will then take on Schreiner on October 2nd at 12:00 p.m. in two very big west division match-ups.
