AUSTIN, Texas --- Freshman Tyler Steinbach and the Tornado defense delivered its fourth shutout of the year as the Concordia Texas women's soccer team defeated Texas Lutheran 2-0 Thursday. Corey Holton's squad is now off to the best start in school history with a current mark of 5-3-1, 3-1-1 ASC.

The Tornados made history Thursday afternoon at St. Stephen's Field tying the program's all-time mark for wins (5) and ASC conference wins in a season (3) with nine games left on the schedule. Concordia dominated the entire 90 minute match scoring in the 37th minute and limiting Texas Lutheran (4-5-0, 2-2-0 ASC) to just two shots.

Concordia's all-time leading scorer Kiera Ruck added another goal to her total when the junior timed a cross from Briana Alston just right and buried the ball just under the top post to give CTX an early 1-0 advantage.

CTX controlled possession for nearly all of the first period as the Tornados attempted eleven shots including two from Victoria Williams and Axita Patel that just missed wide of the goal. In the 63rd minute Patel would come across her fourth goal of the season when the youngster took a great look from Briana Alston and tucked it into the right upper ninety giving CTX a 2-0 lead.

The contest would end with a 2-0 Concordia victory and give TLU its first loss since its conference opener two weeks ago. Tyler Steinbach posted her fourth shutout of the season and has now collected 17 saves in the Tornados last four contests.

CTX attempted 19 shots on the day including three each from Victoria Williams and Chastity Carrillo

Concordia will look to continue their climb up the ASC standings Saturday when the squad hosts Schreiner at 12:00 p.m. The match will be held at St. Stephen's Field where the Tornados are 4-1-0 on the year with the team's only loss coming to # 3 ranked Hardin-Simmons.
