Shamika Singleton scored 18 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field to power the Concordia University women's basketball team to a 94-79 win over Centenary College on Monday, Nov. 28 at the CTX Field House. The Tornados nearly led from wire-to-wire and ended the evening off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
After Singleton nailed two free throws to put the Tornados on the board first, Centenary went ahead by scoring six consecutive points on 3-point field goals by Vashni Sharp-Moore and Megan Daniel. The Ladies maintained their lead and gained an 11-7 advantage on a fastbreak layup by Sharp-Moore at the 17:06 mark.
Concordia tied the game twice and took the lead for good on a layup by Singleton that made it 15-13. The made basket was part of an 11-0 run for the Tornados, which was capped by five consecutive points on a layup and 3-pointer by
Madi Hess. The hosts extended their lead to double figures five times before two free throws by Dio Warr made it 45-37 at the half.
In the second half,
Paige Parrish netted three early field goals to make it a 14-point game at 53-39 less than two minutes in. The Ladies attempted to rally and came within nine, but the Tornados went on an 18-3 run by only allowing the visitors to make one field goal in a span of 6:53.

Madison Kramr for a layup to give Concordia its largest lead of the game at 24 points during the stretch.
Sharp-Moore sank a free throw for Centenary to make it 87-77 with 2:34 on the clock, but that was as close as the visitors would come the rest of the way.
Tiesha Martin,
Lashanda Luckey and Parrish all made layups before the final whistle sounded to give the Tornados the 15-point win.
Singleton contributed seven rebounds to go along with her 18 points to lead Concordia. Martin had a solid all-around performance with eight points, 11 boards, four steals and a career-high six assists, while Parrish recorded 16 points.
Lashanda Luckey scored a career-best 17 points and added six rebounds and five assists.
Centenary (0-4) was led by Megan Daniel, who had a game-high 30 points. Sharp-Moore came close to posting a double-double with 18 points and seven assists, while Taye Hollier netted eight.
Concordia will look to remain undefeated when it visits Texas-Tyler on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.
