Austin, Texas – Winners of three in a row, the Concordia University Texas baseball team will look to stay sharp when it opens an eight-game homestand against Texas-Dallas on Tuesday, March 1 at 4 p.m. A live audio broadcast will be available with Sports Information Director Matthew Chmura calling all of the action.
Concordia (6-4) has won three straight games after sweeping a three-game series on the road against East Texas Baptist this weekend. The team's offense has been paced by a pair of newcomers in junior catcher
Collin Janssen, a transfer from Temple College, and freshman outfielder
Brent Schaekel. Both players have been named the ASC West Division Hitter of the Week this season. Schaekel is hitting .517, including .636 during the winning streak, and has driven in nine runs while registering a team-best four stolen bases in five attempts. Janssen has a .406 batting average with eight RBI and a club-leading 10 runs scored.
Nick Kozole has started all 10 games and has compiled 12 RBI and two home runs, both team highs, to go along with a .407 average.
Ryan Ullmann has emerged as the team's top starting pitcher after hurling a complete game in a 4-1 victory over East Texas Baptist on Saturday. He has a 2.93 earned run average, a 2-0 ledger and 17 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work.
Colin Butschek has fanned 16 hitters and has a 1-1 record in three appearances and starts, while
Scott Weinschenk has been the team's top reliever with a 3.68 ERA in two appearances.

Seniors Jake Wyand and Garet Norton have each started all 10 games and are hitting .378 and .323, respectively, while Wyand, a Texas Tech transfer, has driven in eight runs and scored 10 times. Catcher Grant Friddell, another senior who leads the team with 10 RBI, has posted two doubles, five walks and four RBI in the last four games. Junior Marvin Presitge has won all three of his starts and boasts a 2.79 ERA to lead the pitching staff.
