Austin, Texas – The Concordia University Texas baseball team will look to remain undefeated at home in American Southwest Conference West Division play when it hosts Hardin-Simmons for a pivotal three-game series at Tornado Field on March 25-26. Both teams are tied for first place in the standings. Forever Video Productions is slated to webcast all of the games with Sports Information Director Matthew Chmura calling all of the action.
Concordia (13-9, ASC 5-1), which was predicted to finish sixth in the American Southwest Conference West Division, most recently won two out of three games at Sul Ross State last weekend. The Tornados have particularly relied on strong pitching and defense to find success against league competiton.
Colin Butschek has been the team's ace on the mound, having won all four of his decisions over the last four Friday nights. The sophomore, who has a 4-1 record and a 3.35 earned run average, has fanned 32 hitters while only issuing four walks.

Gerry Morrison and
Bryant Hernandez have all been solid in relief. Ullmann and Morrison each have ERAs that are under a 3.00, while Hernandez has picked up two saves. Newcomers
Collin Janssen and
Brent Schaekel are pacing the Tornado offense and have each been named the ASC West Division Hitter of the Week. They are hitting .377 and .375 and have driven in 13 and 16 runs, respectively.
Colton Gommert has been the team's hottest hitter in conference play. He is hitting .591 with six RBI and eight runs scored against ASC West Division competition. The shortstop has also stolen two bases in the six league games.
Hardin-Simmons (18-5, ASC 5-1), which was selected to finish second among eight teams in the American Southwest Conference West Division Preseason Poll, most recently swept a three-game series against Schreiner last weekend. Pacing the strongest offense in the entire ASC, which boasts five of the top six hitters in the West Division, is senior infielder Brian Weeks. He is hitting .315 with a team-leading 28 RBI and recently broke the school record for career hits (225) in the program's Division III era. In addition to Weeks, who has been the team's top clutch performer, the Cowboys havve four players - Cody Jarboe, Andrew Rehling, Jay Hiller and Troy Tarrant - bat¬ting over .400. Jarboe has a team-best .414 batting average. Kyle D'Alessio, a junior, has been the leader of the pitching staff. He has a 2.63 earned run average and a 2-0 record in five appearances and starts. Hurlers Sam Walker and James Simmons have four wins apiece.
