Nicole Young scored twice in leading the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team to a convincing 5-0 victory over Ozarks on Friday, Oct. 12 at St. Stephen's. The Tornados ended the day alone in third place in the American Southwest Conference standings by having four players – Chastity Carrillo, Jordan James, Christina Odom and Young - factor into multiple goals.

Concordia (8-3-1, ASC 6-1) quickly got on the scoreboard in the seventh minute when Chastity Carrillo sent a dangerous ball into the box on a corner kick. Jordan James headed the ball to Amanda Tarpley, who tapped it to the far post to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead. Carrillo and James were credited with the helpers on the play. The hosts then doubled their advantage in the waning minutes of the opening half when Young sailed the ball over the Eagle goalkeeper's head into the upper 90 of the net after receiving a through ball from Odom. In addition to controlling a 2-0 lead, the Tornados' defense led by Dalaine Whitlock, Sarah Kirkland, Alexis Rodriguez and Tarpley did not allow the Eagles to attempt a shot throughout the opening frame.

The Tornados continued to pour it on in the second half, as Young scored her second goal by potting a rebound after an initial shot taken by Jordan James was saved by Mary Eoff in the 52nd minute. Less than six minutes later, Concordia got another goal off a rebound. Carrillo sent in a hard shot from the right side that was collected by James and placed in the back of the net. The Tornados then found the back of the net for the third time in a span of 11:24 when Hannah Folgate's shot that bounced off the crossbar was tapped in by Odom. The sophomore's first career goal sealed the final outcome.

Kila Hartom and Olivia Jablinski combined for the shutout between the pipes for Concordia, which outshot its opponent by a count of 25-6 in the match and 15-0 in the opening half. Hartom made one save on two chances to earn the victory, while Jablinski turned away three of the four shots she faced after entering the match in the 53rd minute. Mary Eoff of Ozarks (1-12, ASC 1-7) made eight saves on 25 chances.

Concordia will host a pivotal ASC match against Texas-Dallas at St. Stephen's tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. The Tornados will look to avenge last year's loss to the Comets in the semifinal round of the ASC Tournament.
