Jessie Pittman netted a career-high 15 points in leading the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team to a 77-49 win over Ozarks on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the CTX Field House. The Tornados recorded their ninth straight victory against an American Southwest Conference opponent dating back to last season.
Ozarks (2-5, ASC 0-3) started the game on fire and scored the first seven points. Taylor Farmer and Tamara Wilkett each made layups during the stretch. Concordia, however, started to claw back beginning with a
Briona Chatman jumper at the 16:45 mark.
After another layup by Farmer made it 14-6, the Tornados scored 20 of the game's next 27 points to take a lead they would never surrender. A 3-pointer by Pittman put the hosts ahead for the first time with 7:41 left to play in the half before
Katherine Frost drained another shot from long range. Layups by
Kaleigh Landry and
Madison Kramr gave Concordia a 39-26 halftime advantage.
Concordia stayed hot to start the second and got its first six points on trifectas from Pittman.
Madison Kramr gave the Tornados a 58-34 by draining a jumper before the midway point. With the Tornados still in full control,
Cecilee Perez and
Lisa Mancillas combined to score the team's final 11 points before the final horn sounded.
Pittman scored her career-best 15 points for Concordia by draining five shots from downtown on seven attempts.
Madi Hess contributed eight points and three assists, while
DJ Vallier and Chatman added nine points apiece off the bench. Vallier also had seven boards.
Concordia (4-1, ASC 2-0) will look to stay perfect in conference play when it visits Mississippi College on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
