– Senior Lashanda Luckey fell just shy of a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team to a 70-57 victory over Hardin-Simmons on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Tornados, who honored their four seniors after the game, swept the Cowgirls for the first time in program history and set a school record by recording their 16th ASC victory.

After two quick ties and lead changes, Concordia took the lead for good when Domonique Liddell made a free throw to break a 4-all tie. The Tornado lead extended to double figures for the first time on a Shamika Singleton layup, making it 24-14 with 6:45 left, before Christen McLee converted a layup to create a 39-25 halftime score.

Concordia stayed in control throughout the second half. Another free throw by Liddell gave the hosts a 17-point lead at 42-25 with 16:47 left. Hardin-Simmons attempted to rally and came within single digits with under seven left, but the Tornados were able to keep the Cowgirls from sinking a field goal for nearly five minutes to keep the visitors at bay and win by 13.

In addition to recording 14 points and nine rebounds, Luckey recorded five steals to lead the way for Concordia. Paige Parrish and McLee added 12 points apiece, while Canada added eight points and two blocks.

Newcombe paced Hardin-Simmons (11-12, ASC 9-10) with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Alexis Popelar and Jasmine Lewis contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Concordia (18-4, ASC 16-3), which has already clinched a playoff spot, will visit Texas Lutheran on Thursday, Feb. 16.
