Austin, Texas
– Cristian Govea found the back of the net in the 95th minute to lead Dallas to a 1-0 overtime victory over the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team on Saturday, Sept. 1 at St. Stephen's. The Tornados suffered the loss despite holding a commanding 31-9 advantage in shot attempts.

After two scoreless halves, Dallas netted the golden goal just 4:05 into the overtime session. Following another Rangel strike that was saved by goalkeeper James Kerin, Govea came down the right side with space and beat Nick Martin with a low shot to the near post to give the Knights the sudden victory.

Concordia controlled all of regulation play, outshooting Dallas 29-8 through 90 minutes and 16-3 in the second half. The Tornados' back line consisting of Chase Michalak, Thomas Houlton, Matt Ruhe and Call Casarez went nearly 32 minutes without allowing the visitors to attempt a shot while Rangel and the front line were firing away at the other end. A Rangel header went wide right as time expired in regulation, marking one of the last of many opportunities the Tornados had compared to their opponent to score before the lone goal was netted in the extra session.

Nick Martin made six saves on nine opportunities for Concordia, which also had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Dallas' Kerin turned away seven of the 31 shots he faced to pick up the shutout win.

Concordia (0-1) will look to record its first victory of the 2011 season when it visits Our Lady of the Lake on Friday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m.
