Seguin, Texas – Alex Price scored two goals on headers in leading the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Texas Lutheran on Monday, Sept. 17 at Gustafson Field. The Tornados, who also had
Chastity Carrillo factor into a pair of goals, outshot the Bulldogs by a 41-6 margin to win their second American Southwest Conference road match in as many days.
Concordia (4-2, ASC 2-0), which has won three matches in a row, got on the scoreboard early when Carrillo worked from the right side of the box and fed Price a pass that she headed home in the 14th minute. Carrillo moved up to second on the program's all-time list for career points and into a tie for second for career assists on the play. The Tornados carried that one-goal lead into the recess while outshooting the Bulldogs, 21-3, over the first 45 minutes.
The visitors continued to send a barrage of shots at the Bulldog goalkeeper in the second half and doubled the lead in the 65th minute.
Nicole Henderson finished a pass from
Adrianne Ambrosy to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the time.
Texas Lutheran (2-3-0, ASC 1-1) caught the Tornado goalkeeper out of position and scored on an open net in the 71st minute to close the gap to a single goal, but Concordia immediately shook it off and netted two quick goals to break loose. Price fought off a Bulldog defender and headed in a cross from
Amanda Tarpley in the 74th minute before Carrillo closed out the scoring by firing a long shot off a pass from
Jordan James in the 78th to seal the outcome.
Olivia Jablinski made three saves on six chances in the winning effort for Concordia. Texas Lutheran's Devin Crump suffered the loss by allowing one goal and making five saves on 21 chances in the first half before being relieved by Devin Walton in the second frame.
Concordia will host East Texas Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m.
