Lena New tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over LeTourneau on Friday, Sept. 28 at the LeTourneau Soccer Field. The Tornados continued their best start in school history and have outscored their American Southwest Conference opponents, 13-1, over four league matches.
Concordia broke through with its first goal in the waning minutes of the first half, as
Alex Price finished a pass from
Lena New in the 42nd minute.
After outshooting the Yellow Jackets by an 8-2 count in the first half, the Tornados continued to control play in the second and added two insurance tallies.
Jordan James and New each found the back of the net in the 72nd and 80th minutes, respectively.
Concordia's
Olivia Jablinski earned the shutout victory by making three saves on five attempts. Nicole Kemper of LeTourneau (0-9) turned away four of the 11 shots she faced in the losing effort before being replaced by Jamie Aguillen in the 60th minute.
Concordia, which is unbeaten in its last six matches, visits Texas-Tyler tomorrow at 4 p.m.
