Chastity Carrillo broke the program's all-time assists record, but the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team fell to Texas-Tyler by a 3-1 score on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Grace High School. The match featured two of the American Southwest Conference's three remaining unbeaten teams in league play.
Texas-Tyler (7-3, ASC 4-0) scored two goals before the midway point of the first half to take control early. Alyssa Quini knocked in a corner kick from Goodman in the eighth minute before Charity Shipman doubled the lead shortly afterwards by heading in a Strother pass.
Concordia, however, attempted to rally in the second frame and sliced the deficit in half in the 53rd minute.
Amanda Tarpley headed home a corner kick from Carrillo, who was credited with her 13th career assist on the play to surpass
Axita Patel as the all-time record holder in the category. Texas-Tyler, however, quickly recovered and regained its two-goal lead that it maintained the rest of the way on a Nikki Gordon strike in the 74th minute.
Concordia's Jablinski turned away three of the nine shots she faced in the losing effort. Texas-Tyler's Macy Hurley picked up the win by stopping one of the 12 shots she saw.
Concordia (6-3-1, ASC 4-1), which had its six-match unbeaten streak snapped, will visit Mary Hardin-Baylor on Friday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m.
