East Texas Baptist downs Concordia Texas on Saturday, 2-0

MARSHALL, Texas – East Texas Baptist netted goals in both halves and the Tigers posted a 2-0 victory over Concordia University Texas in an American Southwest Conference (ASC) match on Saturday evening at Cornish Field.

The Tornados (1-7-1, 1-3-0 ASC) surrendered scores in the 12th and 55th minutes.

East Texas Baptist (3-3-2, 2-1-2 ASC) picked up its first goal when Christian Garcia finished a service in the box from Juan Ramirez. Garcia's goal stood up as the game-winner.

The Tigers added an insurance score in the second half when Justin Adams converted a penalty kick.

Both Concordia Texas and East Texas Baptist attempted 10 shots apiece, while the Tornados put five on target. The Tigers had only four shots on goal, but converted two of those attempts.

Christian Fredrickson had a team-high three shot attempts for CTX, inluding a pair which were saved by ETBU goalkeeper Cody Hopson.

Hopson finished the contest with five saves.

The Tornados will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Ozarks. The league tilt is slated to kick off at 3 p.m. in Clarksville, Ark.
