AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team will open its final three-match home stand this weekend. The Tornados will host LeTourneau and Texas-Tyler in a pair of American Southwest Conference (ASC) contests.
Concordia Texas (5-4-3, 3-2-1 ASC) will take on the YellowJackets (1-15-0, 0-7-0 ASC) at 5 p.m. on Friday at Vandegrift High School's Monroe Stadium (
9700 McNeil Drive) before hosting the Patriots (8-4-0, 3-3-0 ASC) at 5 p.m. the following day at St. Stephen's Episcopal School's Meredith Field (
6500 St. Stephen's Drive).
The Tornados are coming off a 2-1 loss at Texas-Dallas last Saturday. The Comets scored in the 89th minute to break a tie and clinch the win. Sophomore
Nicole Henderson scored the lone goal for CTX with a header in the 67th minute off a pass from senior
Chastity Carrillo.
Carrillo continues to lead the Tornados with 18 points (8 assists/five goals), which is tied for ninth-most in the conference. Her eight assists also are tied for third in the league.
Junior
Alex Price's five goals are tied for the team lead with Carrillo, while freshman
Megan Frontiera is ranked fifth in the ASC by allowing only 1.12 goals per match.
LeTourneau has lost nine consecutive matches, including a 14-0 setback to league-leading Hardin-Simmons last Saturday. The YellowJackets, who have not won since Sept. 17, have been outscored 92-0 in their last seven matches.
Meanwhile, Texas-Tyler netted a 3-1 win against Howard Payne last Saturday. April Goodman leads the Patriots with 10 total points (4 assists/3 goals), while goalkeeper Macy Hurley ranks third in the league by allowing only 0.74 goals per game.
