BOX SCORE
AUSTIN, Texas – Chastity Carrillo and Lena New each scored two goals apiece and both recorded an assist and the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 victory over LeTourneau on Friday at Monroe Stadium.
The Tornados (6-4-3, 4-2-1 ASC) led 1-0 at halftime, but were sparked by Carrillo's entrance and posted four goals in the final 45 minutes of the match.
New started the scoring in the 26th minute after slipping a ball on the ground past YellowJackets goalkeeper Jamie Aguillen. The Buda, Texas, native was played into space on a pass from Sarah Kirkland, who picked up her first assist of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Carrillo added back-to-back scores in the 52nd and 61st minutes to give Concordia Texas a 3-0 advantage. Carrillo's sixth goal of the season was set up by a cross from New that required the El Paso, Texas, native to head inside the far post. Marcia Kaiser played a ball to free Carrillo, who finished her seventh goal of the year.
Carrillo then set up Nicole Henderson in the 77th minute on a corner kick.
Six minutes later, New capped the scoring after she dribbled into the box and again beat Aguillen on the ground.
The Tornados outshot LeTourneau (1-16-0, 0-8-0 ASC) 17-2, including 12-1 advantage in attempts on goal.
Concordia will host Texas-Tyler on Saturday at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m.
