AUSTIN, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor scored two late goals to edge the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team, 2-1, on Thursday evening at Kelly Reeves Stadium.
The Tornados (6-6-3, 4-4-1 ASC) held a 1-0 advantage with less than eight minutes in the match before the Cru (13-3-0, 7-3-0 ASC) began its comeback.
In the 83rd minute, Kristen Hoelscher received a pass from Charis Brantley at the top of the box and drilled a shot that carried underneath the crossbar to even the contest.
Three minutes later, Kathryn Parker was led into the box by Miranda Aleman's pass. Parker took one touch before shooting over CTX goalkeeper Megan Frontiera to put the visitors in front for good.
Concordia scored its lone goal in the 18th minute when Sarah Kirkland found the back of the net for her first career score.
Mary Hardin-Baylor outshot the Tornados 14-5, but both clubs registered three attempts on target.
Prior to the contest, CTX honored its two seniors – Chastity Carrillo and Marcia Kaiser.
Concordia will await the announcement of the seedings for the American Southwest Conference Tournament, which will take place from Nov. 8-10. The league office will release the bracket for the tournament on Sunday morning.
