BROWNWOOD, Texas – Christian Fredrickson netted his first two scores of the season and the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team captured its first win of the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Howard Payne on Friday at Citizens National Bank Soccer Field.
	
	Fredrickson scored his first goal in the 22nd minute and posted the game-winner 45 minutes later to pick up the American Southwest Conference (ASC) win.
	
	The Tornados (1-5-1, 1-1-0 ASC) yielded a goal to the Yellow Jackets (1-10-0, 0-3-0 ASC) in the 74th minute, but gave up only two more shots the rest of the way to close out the match.
	
	Fredrickson produced the first score of the game on a shot from the top of the box that found its way into the back of the net. His second score was set up by Ray Obeña, who found the junior midfielder in the box.
	
	Concordia Texas outshot Howard Payne, 16-11, including a 6-5 advantage in attempts on goal.
	
	Kyle Duncan saved four shots and allowed one goal in net, while earning the victory.
	
	Meanwhile, Yellow Jackets goalkeeper Brice Gardner also had four saves allowed the two goals. Shay Pate netted the lone score for Howard Payne, which was his fifth of the season.
	
	The Tornados will face Hardin-Simmons (2-3-3, 0-0-2 ASC) on Saturday in Abilene. The league contest is scheduled to be played at 3 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex.
