Austin, Texas
Connor Bertsch keyed a rally by driving in four runs and Ryan Ullmann hurled four shutout frames to propel the Concordia University Texas baseball team to a 5-2 victory over Texas-Dallas on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Tornado Field. The Tornados concluded the Rudy's  BBQ Tornado Classic with a perfect 5-0 record.

Texas-Dallas (2-5), which was designated as the home team, started the scoring quickly in the bottom of the first inning by getting a two-run homer from Kaleb Robinson.  Concordia, however, eventually had an answer and went ahead 3-2 when Connor Bertsch went yard for the second time this season. Brent Schaekel and Casey Skalaban, who singled and drew a walk earlier in the inning, respectively, each scored on the play.

With Ullmann in control on the mound, the Tornados padded their lead by scoring once in the eighth and ninth frames. Brandon Hollier and Bertsch each came through with an RBI hit to give the Tornados the three-run win.

Ullmann, who picked up a save in his previous appearance against Sul Ross State, earned the victory on the mound for Concordia and improved his record to 1-0 this season. Texas-Dallas' Jason Fink took the loss and fell to 0-2 despite striking out eight Tornado batters. He allowed six hits and three runs, which were all earned, and issued four walks.

Concordia (5-6), which has won five games in a row after dropping its first six, will look to stay hot when it hosts Louisiana College for a three-game set next weekend. The first game will be played on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
