Domonique Liddell registered her third career double and broke a shot-blocking record in leading the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team to a 62-54 win over Texas Lutheran on Thursday, Feb. 7 at the CTX Field House. With the victory, the Tornados remained in second place in the American Southwest Conference West Division standings.

Texas Lutheran (7-16, ASC 5-12) led for nearly the entire first half which was tightly contested, as neither side went ahead by more than five points. Concordia did not take its first lead until Madison Kramr drove in for a layup to make it 19-18 with 6:21 to play.

After Katy Scott responded with a layup on the other end to put the Bulldogs ahead by one with 5:21 on the clock, the Tornados did not allow their opponent to hit a field goal for the remainder of the half. Voneshia Williams put the hosts on top again by putting back her own miss before Briona Chatman finished a pass from Tyler Compton to give Concordia a 27-22 advantage at the recess.

Concordia started to break loose in the second half. After a jumper by Chasmin Betters ended a Bulldog shooting drought from the floor that lasted nearly seven minutes, Brianna Smith hit a trifecta and Casey Wallace gave the Tornados a double-digit lead at 36-26 by converting a layup at the 14:55 mark. The Tornado lead ballooned to as many as 18 at 54-36 on a Kaleigh Landry free throw before an attempted rally by the visitors came up just short.

Liddell led Concordia by recording 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor and broke the single-season shot blocking record in the program's NCAA Division III era by swatting away her 29th of the winter. Smith added 10 points and five boards, while Kramr netted nine points.

Scott and Betters notched 11 points apiece to lead Texas Lutheran. Chelsey Stolle contributed eight points and three rebounds off the bench.

Concordia (14-8, ASC 11-5), which plays the remainder of the regular season at home, will host Schreiner on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m.
