AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's soccer will open its 2013 campaign with a non-conference match against former American Southwest Conference (ASC) foe Texas Lutheran on Monday. The match will kick off at 2 p.m. at Town & Country Soccer Field.
The Tornados return 17 letter winners and welcome four newcomers for first-year head coach
Heather Primavera.
First-team All-ASC honoree
Jordan James is among the returners for Concordia Texas. A year ago, James ranked ninth in the league with 22 points and eight goals, including four game winners.
Chastity Carrillo and
Alex Price, both second-team all-conference selections, also return for CTX.
The Bulldogs (0-1) dropped their season opener, 2-0, to Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday in Seguin. The Cru scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute and tacked on another tally eight minutes later.
Monday marks the 15th all-time meeting between the two clubs with Texas Lutheran holding a 10-4 advantage in the series. However, the Tornados have won the last four matchups, including a 4-1 decision last September in Seguin.
