AUSTIN, Texas – Huston-Tillotson scored an equalizing goal in the 77th minute and the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team was unable to break through again as the non-conference match ended in a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night at Stassney Field.
The Tornados (1-1-2) took an early lead as Lena New headed home a corner kick by Chastity Carrillo in the 35th minute.
However, the Lady Rams (1-3-1) answered back just before halftime, as Victoria Reyes lofted a free kick over the Concordia Texas wall and into the back of the net in the 45th minute.
Carrillo put the Tornados back in front in the 55th minute with a free kick from just outside the box that was rifled inside the far post.
Huston-Tillotson then tied the match up for good in the 77th minute as Victoria Elizalde lifted the ball into the upper right corner of the frame after Concordia was unable to clear a corner kick.
The Tornados launched 28 shots overall, including 15 that were put on target. The Lady Rams had 20 shots, 11 on goal.
Freshman Megan Frontiera came up nine saves for Concordia, and she received an assist from New, who headed away a ball on the line from a corner kick in the 109th minute.
Huston-Tillotson's Angelica Erazo tallied a match-high 13 stops.
The Tornados will host Our Lady of the Lake on Friday. The non-conference tilt is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin.
