AUSTIN, Texas – Houston-Victoria shut out the Concordia University Texas men's soccer team, 3-0, on Thursday afternoon at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
The Tornados (0-4-1) were outshot by the Jaguars (6-2), 25-3, including a 12-1 margin in the second half.
Houston-Victoria grabbed an early lead in the 11th minute when Hector Gonzalez's right-footed strike from 25 yards out was placed neatly into the corner of the goal.
The Jaguars doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute after Christian Turman headed a cross from Lewis Edwards into the back of the net.
Kyle Talley topped off the scoring in th 89th minute after running on to a loose ball in the box and placing it inside the near post.
Nick Martin posted a match-high six saves for Concordia Texas, while Henrik Hundesrugge recorded two saves and registered a clean sheet for Houston-Victoria.
The Tornados will return to action at 4 p.m. Saturday when they travel to East Texas Baptist. The two American Southwest Conference foes will play a non-conference match at Cornish Field.
