AUSTIN, Texas – Alex Price scored goals in each half and the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team shut out Texas Lutheran, 2-0, on Monday afternoon at Town & Country Field.

Price pushed the game-winning score into the back of the net in the 42nd minute. She added an insurance goal in the 87th minute to secure the season-opening victory for the Tornados (1-0).

Concordia Texas outshot the Bulldogs (0-2) in the contest 13-4, including an 8-0 advantage in the opening panel.

The Tornados' final shot of the first half was Price's first goal, which was set up in the box by a pair of forward passes.

Jeni Morales pushed the ball ahead to Meagan Brown in the box before her first touch found the right foot of Price. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native then one-touched the pass inside the near post past Texas Lutheran goalkeeper Erin Rose to open the scoring.

The Bulldogs' first shot came nearly eight minutes after halftime, but Megan Fronteira stepped in front to keep the Tornados ahead.

Fronteira, who posted a clean sheet in her collegiate debut, collected three more saves in the final half.

Texas Lutheran's best scoring chance came in the 62nd minute as Courtney Farmer attempted a volley that Fronteira was able to knock down and smother.

Seventeen minutes later, Jordan James carried the possession to the top of the 18-yard box and attempted a shot that was blocked. However, the ball deflected forward to Price's feet, who immediately found the back of the net to close out the contest.

Concordia was awarded five corner kicks, while the Bulldogs took two. Both teams also were whistled four fouls apiece.

Rose saved four shots for Texas Lutheran, all in the first half.

The Tornados will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 7, when they travel to Dallas. The non-conference match is slated to kick off at 2 p.m.
