AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team will continue open American Southwest Conference play this weekend against Louisiana College and Mississippi College at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. The Tornados will host the Lady Wildcats at 2 p.m. on Friday and wrap up the weekend against the Lady Choctaws at 2 p.m. the following day.
Concordia Texas (2-2-2, 0-0-0 ASC) is coming off its best offensive output of the season, a 4-1 shellacking of Houston-Victoria last Thursday. The Tornados scored all four goal in the second half. Sophomore
Nicole Henderson found the back of the net twice and assisted on another score to pace Concordia's offensive outburst.
Senior
Chastity Carrillo leads the Tornados and ranks sixth in the league with 11 total points. Her five assists also are ranked second in the circuit.
Louisiana College (2-5-0, 0-0-0 ASC) has lost its last two outings, including a 2-1 setback to Southern last Friday. Taylor Bergeron has amassed six of the Lady Wildcats' eight goals this fall, while Corey Clampit has dished out a team-leading two assists.
Mississippi College (5-3-0, 0-0-0 ASC) has won its last two contests and outscored its opponents 16-1 during that span. The Lady Choctaws are coming off an 11-0 victory against Wiley last Sunday. Macey Lee leads the conference's top scoring squad with 26 points (12 goals/2 assists). Lee, who was named the ASC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, has scored four goals in the past three matches.
Concordia and Louisiana College will be meeting for the 11th time on Friday. The Tornados own a 7-2-1 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 2001 campaign.
Saturday's match also is the 11th meeting between Concordia and Mississippi College in a series that dates back to 2000. The Lady Choctaws hold an 8-1-1 advantage over the Tornados.
