BOX SCORE
AUSTIN, Texas – Jeni Morales scored the first goal of her career in the 66th minute and lifted the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Louisiana College in the American Southwest Conference (ASC) opener on Friday afternoon at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
The Tornados (3-2-2, 1-0-0 ASC) took an early lead in the 35th minute after Meagan Brown lined a shot from inside the box to the far post. Brown was played forward by Chastity Carrillo, who assisted on both of Concordia Texas' goals on Friday.
Thirty-one minutes later, Carrillo crossed a ball into the box and found the foot of Morales, who one-touched it past the goalkeeper to give CTX a 2-0 advantage.
Pamela Usry put the Lady Wildcats (2-6-0, 0-1-0 ASC) on the board in the 77th minute after she headed home a serve from Alex Corne.
Louisiana College outshot Concordia, 14-10, while the Tornados held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Megan Frontiera logged a match-high eight saves for CTX.
Concordia will host Mississippi College (5-4-0, 0-1-0 ASC) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at St. Stephen's. The Lady Choctaws were tripped up by Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-2, on Friday in Belton.
