LONGVIEW, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team was able to overcome a second-half charge by LeTourneau, and the Tornados captured a 55-50 victory in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action on Thursday at Solheim Arena.
Concordia Texas (5-4, 3-3 ASC) led 32-24 at halftime. The YellowJackets (4-5, 2-4 ASC) then opened the final period with a 20-6 run to claim a 44-38 advantage.
The Tornados fought back and pulled within one (48-47) on
Margaret Milling's layup with 4:35 to play.
Milling then hit a 3-pointer a minute later to give CTX the lead for good.
Celeste Laredo led all scorers with 15 points. The freshman guard also pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Julencia Curtis grabbed a game-high 11 boards for LeTourneau.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Laredo, who scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half, is the fourth player to lead the Tornados in scoring this season.
• Laredo's three 3-pointers are tied for the second-most by a CTX player this season.
• Laredo also led the Tornados in rebounding for the third time this year.
• Concordia shot a season-best 76.9 percent (10-for-13) from the free-throw line.
• The Tornados' perimeter defense limited the YellowJackets to just one made 3-pointer during the game.

Domonique Liddell was the only player to block a shot on Thursday. It marks the ninth consecutive game that Liddell has registered at least one blocked shot.
STAT OF THE GAME
The 50 points scored by LeTourneau is the least allowed by Concordia since limiting Sul Ross State to 48 on Feb. 14, 2013.
