BELTON, Texas – Tyler Compton scored 23 points, but Mary Hardin-Baylor surged late to claim a 71-64 victory over the Concordia University Texas women's basketball in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action on Tuesday at the Mayborn Campus Center.
Compton added a team-leading six rebounds and five assists for the Tornados (5-6, 3-5 ASC).
Domonique Liddell chipped in with 10 points.
The Cru (5-6, 5-3 ASC) held a 32-28 edge at the half and outscored Concordia Texas 39-36 in the final period.
The Tornados shot 43.8 percent (28-of-64) from the field, but only 11.1 percent (1-for-9) from beyond the arc. Concordia also forced Mary Hardin-Baylor to commit 19 turnovers.
Taylor Tucker led a trio of UMHB players into double figures. Tucker scored 16 points, while Jovana Miles (15 points/11 rebounds) and Alyssa Dean (11 points/11 boards) each netted double-doubles. Macy Moore also found her way into double digits with 12 points.
The Tornados will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 9, when the squad hosts Ozarks. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Concordia Fieldhouse.
