BELTON, Texas – The Concordia University Texas volleyball team won the opening set, but No. 23 Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied to win the next three and claim the American Southwest Conference match 3-1 on Friday night at the Mayborn Campus Center.
The Tornados (10-11, 5-6 ASC) picked up a 26-24 win in set one, but the Cru (18-4, 10-1 ASC) ripped the momentum away quickly by winning the following three panels by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-18.
Katie Baker had a team-high 14 kills to go along with a season-best 21 digs to pace Concordia Texas. It marked her conference-leading 13th double-double of the season.
Zoe Allen handed out a match-high 36 assists, while
Cassie Dominguez collected 24 digs.
Mary Hardin-Baylor hit .301 in the match, including a .475 clip in the final three frames.
Three Cru registered double-doubles, including Lauren Powell, who had 16 kills and 15 digs.
The Tornados will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21, as the squad continues its four-match road trip at Howard Payne. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Brownwood.
