AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team will tip off the the 2014-15 season at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday versus former American Southwest Conference (ASC) foe Texas Lutheran in Seguin.

The Tornados posted an 11-15 overall record (9-13 ASC) a season ago. Concordia Texas welcomes back nine letter winners to the roster, which also is bolstered by 11 newcomers for second-year head coach Matt Wallis.

ABOUT THE SERIES WITH TEXAS LUTHERAN
Tuesday's contest marks the 52nd meeting between the two clubs in the all-time series. Concordia holds a 27-24 advantage in the series, which dates back to the 1984-85 season. The Tornados have claimed six of the last seven matchups, but the Bulldogs collected a 69-63 victory over CTX last season in Austin.

MORE ON THE BULLDOGS
Texas Lutheran, which left the ASC prior to the 2013-14 season, are 0-1 on the year after dropping a 58-55 decision at Texas-Dallas last Friday in Richardson. The Bulldogs, who captured the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship last year, will open up their home slate on Tuesday against the Tornados. Kristen Lye led TLU with 19 points in the season opener, while Chelsey Stolle collected a team-best eight rebounds.

MORE ABOUT THE CTX/TLU SERIES
The Tornados own a 13-11 record in games played against Texas Lutheran in Seguin. Outside of ASC play, TLU is 19-6 against CTX. Over the last 10 games against the Bulldogs, Concordia has averaged 71.7 points, while Texas Lutheran has put up 70.3 points in those meetings.

WHAT'S RETURNING?
Concordia returns nine letter winners from last year's club. Wallis' club returns 44.4 percent of its scoring and 47.9 percent of its rebounds from a year ago.

ROAD OPENERS
Concordia is starting the season on the road for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign. The Tornados did not travel far during that season, only to the south part of Austin, where the squad dropped a 79-68 decision to Division II St. Edward's.

LAST TIME OUT
Concordia ended the 2013-14 season with a loss to Texas-Dallas in the ASC Tournament opening round, 79-70. Tyler Compton led the way for CTX with 20 points, while Kia Love dropped in 10 in the finale.

UP NEXT
The Tornados continue their season-opening road swing with a stop at Texas-Pan American for an exhibition contest on Thursday night. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. in Edinburg.
