Women's soccer to open ASC Tournament play versus Texas Dallas on Thursday

AUSTIN, Texas –
The Concordia University Texas women's soccer team will open American Southwest Conference Tournament play on Thursday morning in Abilene. The Tornados clinched the fifth seed and will play fourth-seeded Texas Dallas at 11 a.m. in the opening quarterfinal matchup.

Concordia Texas (7-5-3) is making its fifth consecutive appearance in the league's postseason tournament.

The Tornados are led by senior forward Jordan James, who has netted nine goals and assisted on three others this season.

In all, Concordia boasts seven players who have scored this season.

The Comets (12-4-1) is making its 13th straight trip to the postseason. Texas Dallas has out-scored its opponents 44-14 this season. Carli Beckett is the top offensive threat with 12 goals and six assists.

The two teams met on Oct. 31 in Austin, as the Comets netted a 2-1 win in double overtime. Nicole Young scored late in the second half for CTX to send the contest into overtime.

The winner of the match will advance to play top-seeded and 25th-ranked Hardin-Simmons at 11 a.m. Saturday.
