AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Lutheran scored 10 times in the fourth inning, and the Bulldogs cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Concordia University Texas baseball team on Wednesday night at Tornado Field.
The Bulldogs (4-0) sent 15 batters to the plate and produced 11 hits, including two for extra bases, in the deciding frame. Ryan Hill hammered a triple to the right-center gap that drove in three runs and gave Texas Lutheran a 4-2 lead. Keaton Bohrmann, Klaus Bohrmann and Tyler Carollo all registered a pair of hits in the big inning.
The Tornados (3-1) took a 2-0 advantage into the fourth before the Bulldogs' offense exploded.
Each team tacked on one more tally before playing three scoreless frames to close out the non-conference tilt.
Texas Lutheran racked up 18 hits on the night, only three of which went for extra bases. Carollo led the way with a 4-for-4 performance that included two RBIs, while Hill was 3-for-4 with four RBIs.
Conner Capdau (1-0) earned the win in the relief. The right-hander gave up a run on two hits and struck out two in two innings of work.
Meanwhile, Concordia managed eight base hits, all singles.
Colton Poindexter was 3-for-4 and drove in a run, while
Kyle Rodriguez added a trio of hits and scored twice.
The Tornados will have eight days off before hosting Ozarks in the American Southwest Conference opener on Friday, Feb. 21.
