AUSTIN, Texas – With only two weekends remaining in the regular season, the 29th-ranked Concordia University Texas baseball team will wrap up its home slate against Sul Ross State. The three-game American Southwest Conference (ASC) series opens up at 7 p.m. Friday at Tornado Field and will conclude with a 1 p.m. doubleheader the following day.
The Tornados (23-10, 18-8 ASC), who have lost four of their last six games, hold a game and a half lead in the conference over LeTourneau and Mary Hardin-Baylor. Concordia Texas was swept last weekend in a three-game series at Texas-Tyler. The Tornados have posted a 14-3 record at home this spring.
The Lobos (17-17, 13-14 ASC) are tied for sixth in the league standings with Louisiana College. Sul Ross State won two of three games against LeTourneau last weekend, and the Lobos are 4-8 on the road this season.
The two teams have met 53 times previously, and Concordia holds a 39-14 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1986 season. The Tornados have won seven of the last eight meetings, including three of the four matchups last season.
