AUSTIN, Texas – Following an one-run, extra-inning loss at Texas Lutheran on Tuesday, the 11th-ranked Concordia University Texas baseball team will close out its seven-game road trip this weekend with an American Southwest Conference (ASC) series at Mississippi College. The three-game set is scheduled to open at 6 p.m. on Friday at Frierson Field and will conclude with a 12 p.m. doubleheader the following day (Please note: the schedule changes have been made due to heavy rains in the Clinton, Miss., area early Friday morning).
The Tornados (19-4, 15-2 ASC), who are off to their best start in program history, lead the ASC by two and a half games with 15 league tilts left on the slate. Concordia Texas was unable to hold a one-run lead in the ninth inning against the Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon. Texas Lutheran tied the game with two outs in the ninth on a wild pitch and walked off the following frame with a bases-loaded single for the 2-1 victory.
The Tornados boast one of the nation's top pitching staffs. Concordia ranks third in the country with a 2.00 ERA, behind Johnson & Wales (1.97) and St. John Fisher (1.97). Right-hander
