AUSTIN, Texas – With just three games remaining in the regular season, the Concordia University Texas baseball team will attempt to clinch the American Southwest Conference regular season championship this weekend with a series at I-35 rival Mary Hardin-Baylor. The set is scheduled to open at 7 p.m. Friday at Red Murff Field in Belton, and will conclude with a 1 p.m. doubleheader the following day.
The Tornados (25-11, 20-9 ASC) hold a game and a half lead over LeTourneau in the race for the No. 1 seed at next week's ASC Tournament, which will be held at Tornado Field. The Cru (24-13, 18-12 ASC) are two and a half games behind CTX, while Texas-Dallas is three games back. The YellowJackets will play a three-game series at Ozarks this weekend, while the Comets will host Hardin-Simmons.
Concordia Texas won two of three contests last weekend against Sul Ross State. The Tornados, who posted bookend victories versus the Lobos, became the first team to register 20 wins in ASC play since 2003.
