AUSTIN, Texas – The 2014 American Southwest Conference Baseball Championship will be held May 7-11 at Concordia University Texas' Tornado Field.
 
The eight-team double-elimination event will consist of 14 games with a possible "if necessary" 15th game. The tournament kicks off at 10 a.m. Wednesday, when No. 4 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor (25-15) takes on fifth-seeded Howard Payne (19-21).
 
Concordia Texas (27-12), which clinched the top seed this past weekend, is appearing in its 10th postseason tournament. The Tornados have won three ASC Tournament championships, including consecutive crowns in 2011 and '12. CTX also won the 2002 title before advancing to the Division III World Series. The Tornados will open tournament play against defending champion and eighth-seeded Texas-Tyler (16-24) at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

LeTourneau (28-12) claimed the No. 2 seed and will make its first ASC Tournament appearance in program history. The YellowJackets will play the nightcap on the first day against No. 7 seed Louisiana College (16-23). First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
 
Meanwhile, Texas-Dallas (24-15) earned the No. 3 seed and will play sixth-seeded Sul Ross State (19-21) at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Comets are making their 11th appearance in the league's postseason tournament and have advanced to four championship games. The Lobos are will make their first tournament appearance since 1999, when the Alpine-based squad won the title.
 
The 2014 ASC Championship is the 18th in league history and the first since 2004 to be played in its entirety in one location. Tickets, which will be sold for $8 (adults) and $5 (students and seniors), can be purchased at the gate on game days.
 
The winner of the tournament earns the league's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. Selections for the NCAA Division III Championship will be posted on NCAA.com at 11 p.m. (CT) Sunday, May 11. Eight regional tournaments will be played May 14-18, while the Division III World Series is slated to take place May 23-27 at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin.
 
About Tornado Field
Built in 2010, Tornado Field has hosted three ASC Tournament First Rounds, the 2012 ASC Tournament Championship Round and the 2013 NCAA Division III West Regional. The playing field is a FieldTurf surface, while the stadium holds 1,100 spectators in the covered grandstands and includes nearly 300 chairback seats.
